BetaData Systems, Inc. is located in Tucson, Arizona, and is a privately held corporation. The company was incorporated in 1978 by John H. Moffatt, Ph.D., and Mimi R. Moffatt for the purpose of developing computer software for multiple vertical markets, providing computer consulting services, software programming and support services, and, computer hardware sales nationwide.

BetaData is a value-added reseller of computers and other specialized hardware such as data communications, point of sale and bar code equipment. BetaData has a resale relationship with Hewlett-Packard as well as a number of first line specialty equipment manufacturers and distributors such as Ingram Micro, ScanSource, and M-S Cash Drawer.

John Moffatt has degrees in business, computer science, and education administration, as well as an extensive background in consulting and over 41 years' experience in the computer industry.
